Interlocking EVA foam mats are an ideal platform for many sports. We are able to manufacture them in a variety of thicknesses, densities, mat sizes and colours.

Karate Mats
We spent two years studying the exact mat specifications required for Karate. The mats must not be too hard or too soft. They must not allow the foot to sink excessively when pivoting, and yet should be soft enough to break a fall from a throw.
In addition, the correct size of the central fighting area in a karate mat is 8m x 8m, so the mats need to be correctly sized. As a result, using a 1metre x 1 metre mat, Bright Sports Mats produces the exact Karate fighting floor. Every third mat is made up of two mats, each exactly half of 1 square meter. We have delivered over 100 karate floors since production started in 2000.

Karate floors are available in 12mm for R295.00 per square meter or 20mm at R590 per square meter. Both costs are VAT inclusive

Major users include Soon Pretorius, Johan Le Grange, Wits Technicon, Tzaneen JKA, Wimpie Visser, Future Gym, Henk Steenkamp, The Heidelberg Karate Club, the University of Cape Town , Walvis Bay Karate Club, and the Angola Karate Federation. Bright Kid produced the 20mm mats for the All Africa Games in Luanda in 2005.
Aerobics and under Gym Machines Mats
There are four different mat qualities suitable for aerobics-depending upon the exact use planned
> mats of 50cm x 50cm in 10mm for lightweight work
> mats of 100cm x 100cm in 12mm for medium to heavy use
> mats of 100cm x 100cm in 20mm for heavy use
> mats of 100cm x 50cm in cushion 20mm for heavy use where cushioning is required.
For under most gym machines we recommend 2m x 1m in either 5mm or 10mm thick mats.
